Local warnings still come first
National Weather Service point alerts remain the strongest location-specific U.S. warning layer. SPC and NHC add wider official context, but do not override local instructions.
SPC outlooks add lead time
Day 1–3 convective outlooks can flag an elevated severe-thunderstorm or tornado environment before a local warning exists. Selected-state mentions receive more relevance than a generic national outlook.
Volcano status is regional by design
USGS elevated-volcano data is primarily shown when the observatory region matches the selected U.S. area. A distant volcano only bypasses that rule for the highest WARNING/RED states.
